Lee Fletcher wants to build a strong local team based on an open culture and respect for traditional values. Lee Fletcher has joined DEJONG Slovakia as Plant Manager. He thus became the first Slovak acquisition of the Dutch-American company, which announced its entry into the Slovak market at the end of the year. He brings to his new position international experience from five European countries, as well as from the USA and Australia. However, he has spent the last eight years in Slovakia working for Jaguar Land Rover and Gronbach.

It is the construction of the new plant in Prešov that is his new role as Plant Manager of DEJONG Slovakia. In addition to managing the construction and building relationships in the region, he sees his key responsibilities as creating a quality and united team of people that will form the core of the organisation for the next many years of its presence on the Slovak market.

“With new greenfield projects there are many things that need to be set up correctly from the start, but one of the most important factors is people,” says Lee Fletcher, Plant Manager at DEJONG Slovakia. “That’s why I see my key responsibility in the first period as creating a great team of people who share the vision of a healthy and dynamic work culture based on shared values, trust, teamwork and respect”, adds Lee Fletcher.

DEJONG has been in business for more than 160 years, 45 of which have been as Europe’s leading independent manufacturer of stainless steel hot water tanks. The success of originally a family-owned company is based on the quality of its products and services, but most importantly on the respect and long-standing close relationships it has with its partners and the communities in which it operates. “The company wants to continue this trend in Slovakia, which is why we have decided to put the management of the company in the hands of local managers and employees who know the local culture and values,” says Michael Thurkow, HR Project lead Rheem Europe.

Originally from the UK, Lee Fletcher has been living in Slovakia with his Slovak wife and family for 8 years. “I consider Slovakia my home, even though I am not from here. “I love the diversity of Slovak culture and the traditional values that are still very important to people. I will be glad when, in my new position, I have the opportunity to do something more for my region and the people around me,” concludes Lee Fletcher.
